What an incredible honor it has been to have Joe in our barn this summer. It is a pretty busy place at times, but our big ham - Joe loved every minute of it. He has been the center of attention of people of all ages...from all Alli's little friends to my oldest of friends. Always exhibiting his amazing disposition, he has worked his way into all of our hearts. I am so proud to have/had 4 babies by him and I can't wait to show Hot n Blazeless this upcoming show season.
I just have to say that most 7 year old girls are not given the opportunity to ride and handle a horse of this caliber, let alone a stallion of his honors. We have watched that video so many times now and still the last thing she says before she falls asleep at night is "Mom, I can't believe I got to ride Hot Diggity Joe" She has not stopped talking about it. For her to even understand the magnitude of her opportunity, I feel, is so neat. She is as horse crazy as they come and she appreciates horse talent even at her young age.
I can't wait for her to be ready to compete for the All-Round as SHE WILL DEFINITELY BE RIDING A JOEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About 3 weeks after Joe came out of the breeding shed this year I took him to a show in MN...not exactly sure what to expect as hauling a stallion can be a little challenging sometimes and I didn't know Joe well at all. He was absolutly the model show horse from beginning to end and nothing but a joy to ride and show. The moment that sticks out to me though was standing in the line up after the Senior WP and a colleague of mine leaning over from about 5 horses down and asking with a big smile on his face "hey Sarah! Is he as FUN to ride as he looks?".....my reply with a big smile...."Yeah Jason, he REALLY is!"
It has been a dream come true to get to help finish Joe's superior and to really get to know the individual who has sired so many fabulous youngsters that have been wonderful to work with as well. The sweetness that Joe shows in these pictures of him and Allie is really who he is.

Hot Diggity Joe and Bradac Ranch Quarter Horses congratJOElate DIGGIN THE BLUES and his owner, Willie Matthews from St Paris, OH on their Congress Top Ten Championship in the Yearling HUS Longe Line! "Blue" was bred and raised by Bradac Ranch Quarter Horses. His dam is a 15.2H gray daughter of Tes Impression out of a Reno's Replacement mare named Dancin In Blue Time. Willie purchased "Blue" from us before he was weaned last fall.
"Blue" is a full brother to High Joe Silver Away. (16.2H gray gelding, longe line money earner and AQHA Point Earner).
Willie has big plans for "Blue" next year. Currently, "Blue" is back at home. Owner Willie says, "We are just going to turn him out the next few months and let him be a horse".

Congress Breeding Special
If you book your mare on or before October 25, 2009, you get a reduced stud fee of $1250, and that INCLUDES the chute fee and your first shipment of cooled semen via FedEx Priority Overnight! Stop by the Gumz Farms Booth on Stallion Avenue. All you need to do is pay the $600 Booking Fee and the balance is due next spring before we ship semen to your mare.
Not going to Congress? NOT A PROBLEM! Just call Gumz Farms and they will mail you out a contract. You can fill it out and mail it back along with your $600 deposit. All mailed in contracts must be postmarked no later than October 25th.

Thoughts and Prayers to Sunni Hecht
Sunni Hecht, the owner of Girls Dig Me and Im Hot N Naughty, was accidentally kicked this morning. She suffered several facial fractures as well as some lacerations. She is facing several reconstructive surgeries. She was being transferred to a Billings hospital so she would be closer to home. Please keep Sunni in your thoughts and prayers.

Sunni Hecht and Im Hot N Naughty were 9th in the JR Trail at the Region Two Show today. Many of you know that Sunni also owns Girls Dig Me and they finished 4th at the Congress. She bought "Big Ernie" from us as a weanling and has done all the work on him herself. This is their first AQHA Show and he has made a fabulous debute!

CongratJOElations Scarlet Joe Hara!
Scarlet Joe Hara was shown for the first time in both the Junior and Green Western Pleasure at the State Fair Show in Huron, SD. She was a CLASS WINNER in both as well as a point earner! She also did very well in trail.
We were very proud of her. She handled the commotion of the fair crowds like an old campaigner. She even went in the washrack with a bunch of dairy cattle and didn't lose her cool when one of them decided to start licking her! How is that for a good mind?!

Congratulations to Dare Greatly and his owner Jennie Schut. Dare Greatly is a 3YO brown gelding by Hot Diggity Joe out of the TB mare Country Streaker. DIGNITY Heats Things Up at the Canadian Nationals!
Dignity made his western pleasure debute at the Canadian Nationals Quarter Horse Show in Red Deer, Alberta. He tied for RESERVE in the 2YO Open Western Pleasure. Dignity is Owned by Betty Anne Vivian of Valleyview, Alberta and bred by Schiestel/Cawsey partnership.
He is out of Three D Jewel, a point earning, point producing daughter of Sheldon Soderberg's stallion, Three Dimension Zip.
"This guy is an absolute delight to be around", says trainer Lisa Schiestel. Owner Betty Anne Vivian is looking forward to showing him next season.

Our Condolences....
We want to express our condolences to our customers Jan Hare and Heidi Good on their loss of their Hot Diggity Joe foals.
Jan Hare had a lovely foal out of her Last Detail mare, Spare Me The Details. "Lazlo" definitely had star quality about him. He was a gorgeous colt, full of charisma and charm, not to mention, a beautiful mover. "Lazlo" passed away after a 5 hour surgery at OSU. For Lazlo's full story, visit www.janhare.com
Heidi Good had a gorgeous colt out of her palomino daughter of Invested Dimension. "Mighty Joe" came into this world a "Dummy Foal". He was the spitting image of his sire, right down to the flaxen tail.
Once again, we are very, very sorry for your losses. There were a lot of hopes and dreams lost with these foals.

We just used East Coast Equine Transport & GBF Enterprises to haul our mares to KY. They did a phenomenal job. I booked the haul in November. They kept me updated with emails to let me know that we were still on track. They called me several days out to let me know where they were and when they'd be here. They arrived right on time. Very nice trailer. It was big, clean and SAFE. There were two drivers, Ben and Sharon. My mares left ND on Tuesday morning and were delivered to Gumz Farms the following afternoon. They called me enroute and again once my mares were delivered. It was the BEST hauling experience we have ever had and I highly recommend them.

Just got this YouTube video of WINK IF YOUR HOT. "Josie" is owned by Jackie Schillinger of Vida, MT. She raised "Josie" from a foal. Her dam, Winken Wendi, is an own daughter of Lucky Wayne. Jackie showed Winken Wendi for a couple of years and the mare has numerous WP points. "Josie" should mature to 16.2-16.3H. Jackie has a full brother to this filly at home that will soon be going to Sarah Diamonds to get started. Also, Wendy is bred back to Joe for 2009, and has rebooked for a 2010 foal!
Jackie also owns Serendigity, a Hot Diggity Joe mare that she showed. "Sarah" is in foal to Huntin For Chocolate for 2009. That should be a very exciting cross. Jackie is thinking about breeding "Sarah" to HOT ONES ONLY for a 2010 foal.

My Old Kentucky Home...
After the second Fox Lea Farm Show, Hot Diggity Joe made his way back to Gumz Farms in Morganfield, KY, where he will be standing the 2009 Breeding Season. Amy Gumz has called several times to let me know how much "Joe" is enjoeying being back. He is getting turned out daily, weather permitting. Amy says, "He doesn't know what he likes doing best. Hot Diggity Joe came out of FL being qualified for the 2009 AQHA World Show in SR HUS, SR Pleasure Driving and Open Performance Halter Stallions, making him a 16-TIME AQHA WORLD SHOW QUALIFIER! He is only a few points away from qualifying in the SR Hunter Hack, Progressive Working Hunter, AMT HUS and AMT Performance Halter Stallions
Not only that, but he only needs 2.5 Western Pleasure Points and he will have his OPEN WP SUPERIOR!!! He needs 8 more AMT WP Points to finish his AMT WP Superior.

Michelle Lahnala-Mclean and A Diggin Hot Time
While in Venice, I was able to visit with Michelle about her up and coming Hot Diggity Joe, A Diggin Hot Time. As you all well know, Michelle and her fabulous gelding, I WISH I WERE BLUE, have won the AMT HSE at both the AQHA World Show and the Congress.
Michelle brought "Wilson" to FL with her. With the grueling schedule of both Congress and the World Show, "Wilson" had been turned out at Michelle's home in MI. She brought "Wilson" down to FL with her. Both Michelle and her trainer, Sandra Vaughn, have been quite pleased with his progress. Michelle is getting very excited about showing him in the AMT HUS and AMT HSE and they have started him over some crossrails and would love to be showing him in the Hunter Hack later this year.
I was lucky enough to get a lesson from Sandy on "Vegas" the same time Michelle was getting a lesson on "Wilson". Diane, a lovely lady I met from Tampa, was also getting a lesson at the same time. She couldn't believe that "Vegas" and "Wilson" had just turned three as they were both doing so well.
I learned a lot of Sandra that day and am looking forward to working with her when I go back to FL. Before then, I will be buying stock in both Advil and Aleve!

Back to Venice
"Joe's" grueling schedule continues....From Tampa, FL we all headed back to Fox Lea Farms. "Joe" picked up several more points.
Lets Joe To Vegas was shown in the Green HUS and was in the points!!! This was her second show and she did very well with a third place finish and a couple of fourths. I am very excited to see what this next season brings with "Vegas". I am planning on showing her in the Non Pro 3YO HUS classes.

2008 Florida Gold/Gulf Coast News
It was quite a show for Hot Diggity Joe! He had class wins in Senior HUS, Senior Pleasure Driving, Open and AMT Performance Halter Stallions and the NSBA Senior HUS and NSBA Senior Hunter Hack.
Hot Diggity Joe and Jennifer Leckey ended up Reserve Circuit Champions in the Senior HUS! "Joe" was also a Reserve Circuit Champion in BOTH Open and AMT Performance Halter Stallions. "Joe" and Ellen had several class wins in the Senior Pleasure Driving too! "Joe" also picked up points in SR Hunter Hack and the new Progressive Working Hunter.
But, the biggest news is that 2 of his foals were down there showing too! High Joe Silver Away picked up points in the Green HUS and Lets Joe To Vegas placed Top Five in the 2/3YO HUS Futurity at the Gold Coast!

From Oklahoma City to sunny Venice, FL
We could all hardly wait to pack up camp in OKC and head south to FL. For all of you who haven't been to Venice, FL, all I can say, is it is one of the prettiest places I have been to. Fox Lea Farms is my FAVORITE place to show.
The show was a good one. "Joe" picked up points in AMT HUS, AMT WP, AMT Horsemanship, AMT Showmanship, SR HUS and SR WP. He was actually the Circuit Champion in AMT Showmanship, SR WP and SR HUS!

2008 AQHA World Show News
In 2004, Hot Diggity Joe was 6th in the Senior Hunter Under Saddle with Allison Clark. It was decided soon after that, that "Joe" was going to be retired. It wasn't an easy decision to bring him back out after a nearly 2 year abscence from the show pen. "Joe" had proven himself already and his foals were out there showing doing well. But, it was a decision that has paid off ten fold!
Hot Diggity Joe was 4th in the Senior Pleasure Driving with Ellen Jost, winning the class on the cards of Judge Stephanie Lynn and Nancy Sue Ryan. He was 5th in the Senior Hunter Under Saddle with Jennifer Leckey, winning the class on the card of Judge Stephanie Lynn!
A special thanks to Rick and Ellen. Everyone that saw "Joe" said he looked better than ever! They did a fabulous job of preparing Joe for the World Show.

2008 Congress News
Hot Diggity Joe is now a Congress Champion! He won BOTH the Open and Limited Open Amateur Performance Halter Stallions.
Brian Ellsworth showed him in the Open and Limited Open Performance Halter Stallions. He got a 10th in the Open, and an 8th in the Limited Open. The BIGGEST news is that for being 10th, we won an Exiss 2H Gooseneck Trailer! Here is a link to an article that was done by the Quarter Horse Journal.

HOT DIGGITY JOE is now a REICHERT HUS CHAMPION SIRE!!! Congratulations to Amy Darnell and Dancin With Joe on winning the 3YO Non Pro HUS!!!
Hot Diggity Joe has now sired a Reichert HUS Champion. Congratulations to Amy Darnell and Dancin With Joe on their win at the Reichert in the 3YO Non Pro HUS! Dancin With Joe earned $5140.45 in Futurity Money at the Reicherts. We'll keep you updated on how they do at the NSBA World Show this coming week.
Dancin With Joe is a 2005 brown mare out of Thisdanceisforyou. Thisdanceisforyou is in foal to Hot Diggity Joe and due in March 2009. The foal she is carrying is eligible for the KyBIP. If you are in KY next spring, make sure to stop by and see all of the Hot Diggity Joe foals at Gumz Farms!
Hot Diggity Joe has also sired a Reichert and NSBA World Show Top Ten Western Longe Liner. In 2006, Suddenly Blazing, a sorrel gelding out of Impulsive Attitude, placed in the Open and Non Pro Longe Line classes.
